General Insurance

From a single van to a full commercial fitout, we arrange business insurance for Southland and Otago operators. Our brokers sit in Invercargill, Gore, Balclutha and Dunedin, so the person who selects your policy is the same one who picks up the phone when you need to claim.

What we cover

Most businesses need some of these, not all. Your broker works out which apply, and where the gaps are.

Business assets

Also known as Material Damage cover

Commonly referred to as Material Damage cover, this provides physical property protection for all assets such as buildings, plant, equipment, contents, office and retail fitouts, tools of trade and stock, etc. Protection is for losses caused through accidental physical loss or damage including fire, flood, burglary, theft or natural disaster.

Machinery Breakdown

Specified plant and equipment

Cover is provided for breakdown of all forms of specified machinery, from small electric motors to refrigeration plant to boilers and pressure vessels.

Loss of Profits

Also known as Business Interruption insurance

Provides protection for lost profits and fixed expenses of the business, following a claim payable for insured assets under the Material Damage policy. This can include cover for gross profits or gross rental income, wages and/or salaries, additional increased costs of working, claims preparation costs and other financial loss incurred.

Commercial Motor Vehicles

Comprehensive, Third Party Fire & Theft, or Third Party Only

Cover for vehicles used for commercial or business use. Insurance can be for Full Comprehensive cover, Third Party Fire & Theft cover, or Third Party Only cover.

Corporate Travel

Annual or one-off trips

Provides cover for those travelling outside New Zealand against risks such as loss of luggage and equipment; medical expenses; disrupted travel; cancelled travel; and third party liability. Cover can be arranged on an annual basis or for a one off trip.

Construction

Commercial, Civil or Domestic projects

Cover for Commercial, Civil or Domestic construction projects. Insurance can also be arranged for existing structures where the construction relates to alterations. Insurance can also extend to materials and plant (both on and off site), temporary buildings, debris removal and all contract associated professional fees.

Other Business Insurance

IBA can cover almost all parts of business insurance

Every business carries risks that don’t fit neatly under the headings above.

Your broker looks at how your business actually operates and arranges the best cover. If you’re unsure whether something can be insured, ask — the answer is usually yes.
